Ben Smith is a dedicated husband, father, and 25-year resident of Washington Township, running for a three-year term on the Washington Township School Board. A U.S. Army Veteran who proudly served in the 4th Infantry Division, Ben has built his life and career around service, leadership, and integrity.
For nearly 30 years, Ben has practiced law as an attorney, serving as a partner and co-managing partner in his own firm. His legal career includes assisting municipalities across New Jersey, publishing for Practical Law, a Thomson Reuters company, and lecturing for organizations such as the National Association of Insurance Women. Ben’s extensive legal and leadership background provides him with the skills to ensure that the School Board operates with accountability, transparency, and sound judgment.
Beyond his legal work, Ben is deeply committed to civic and community service. He has provided pro bono legal guidance to those in need, supported the Veterans’ community through personal and professional involvement, and contributed to organizations such as the USO. Together with his wife, he is also an active supporter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
Education and public service run in Ben’s family, with three sisters serving as educators—two at the elementary level and one as a college professor. With a child currently attending Washington Township Public Schools, Ben is personally invested in the success and future of the district.
Grounded in the values of accountability, integrity, and transparency, Ben Smith is ready to bring his experience and commitment to the Washington Township School Board to ensure the best outcomes for students, families, and the community.
